Last Day of Classes

Today is the day we have been looking forward to for the whole entire year.  It is FINALLY the last day of classes.  While I am sad to be leaving Milligan for the summer, I have to say I am so ready for this semester to be over it incredible.  I am over the classes I am in and in part I am over some of the professors I have.  I look forward to next year when I will finally really be working on my majors, and not taking these ridiculous classes that mean nothing to me.

I can finally say goodbye to Humanities classes forever and I can say goodbye to stupid Leadership classes!! So ready to be done with both of those classes.

Next week is exam week and as I am trying very hard to study for my tests, part of me just wants to give up and not study anymore.  Lets be serious here, does it all really matter?  If I bomb these tests I will more than likely still make the grade I need.  And all of this added stress I have is not needed or wanted.  So maybe I won't kill myself over theses test, but I don't think I can just give up.  I have worked to hard all semester to not keep trying!!

Why Can't I Have My Rebellious Moment Too?

As each teenager gets older we all have that moment when we desire to have some rebellious moment.  And now is when I am choosing when I want to have mine! Don't ask why, because I truly do not know, but I want another piercing.  I have both ears pierced with two holes, and then also my left cartilage pierced.  And for someone who does not like needles or pain, I am wanting to get another one.  And I don't just want any piercing, I want to pierce my nose.  All I want is a cute little stud.  Knowing me I will keep it in for a couple years, and then when I get a real job and join the real world I will take it out.

So trying to still be the good daughter that I am, I asked my parental units what they thought about this.  And of course, no shocker to anyone, they said no.  Why do they disagree with this idea?  That I do not know.  I could sit here and try to take a guess, but that would be a waste of my time and yours.  So I won't.

All I know is I want to get my nose pierced and I want to do it now! I want to rebel against the norms and I want to do it now! Please keep in mind I am 19 turning 20 in less that a week, and I want to rebel!  This is my last chance as a teenager to do something I probably shouldn't.  So someone please tell me why not?  Who not? Why not? Why not?

I THINK I WILL ;)

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!!!!!

So here are Milligan we have this amazing thing called WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!! And this year it was truly wonderful!  One of my best friends, Miss Kelly Devault, is the one who this year, and probably for the next two years to come, planned everything.  And I must say she did one of the best jobs ever.  Everyone had a blast and loved every second of the day.  It was so great to see all of campus outside and enjoying themselves!

This year the theme was "Come Sail Away".  We woke up and had brunch at 10 a.m. and then from there all of the events started.  We started off with a faculty hunt, then got to rock climb and bungee jump, from there there were dodgeball tournaments, volleyball tournaments, waterslides, milk chugging contests, and much much more!!

Here are some pictures of what we had fun doing!!
 brunch with the girls
Lauren rock climbing (she fell right after this was taken!)
Everyone out on Pardee lawn for dodgball
Me and Becky enjoying the sun and watching volleyball
Ashlee and Eliza going down the water slide

Overall we had such a WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!! It was perfect timing since school has been getting so busy, and we all enjoyed having the day off mid week.  I seriously can't wait until next year when we get to do it again!!

5 homework assignments, 3 tests, and 1 paper later....

My life this past week has been crammed full of all kinds of school work.  I have had homework assignments out the wahzoo and then on top of that 3 tests and a paper to write.  It has just been a crazy hectic week that I can't wait to be done with, and that will hopefully be on Wednesday.

Most college students weekends are filled with relaxing and having fun with their friends.  Not mine.  I woke up early on Saturday to go help with Milligan's Spring Orientation.  I get all the way down there and then they tell me they don't really need me, but to hang out for a little bit just to make sure.  An hour later I finally make it back to my dorm.  I then spent the afternoon working on what was suppose to be 3 little easy assignments, not true.  Those three assignments took me forever.  Then a tornado hits near us and all of Johnson City lost electricity, fortunately Milligan did not.  So since I couldn't really go anywhere without risking my life, I decided to take one of my tests since it was online.  2 hours later I was starving and needed to get out of the dorm.  So I went into town (electricity finally came back on right as I left) and went shopping for things I needed for Sunday School and to pick up some food.  Finally that night I did have some fun with friends when we had game night over at Ashlee's house.

The next morning (Sunday) I woke up early because I had yet to really look over what I needed to do for Sunday School at my church.  So I got ready and did that.  Got to Harrison, taught my lesson to two VERY rambunctious first and second graders, and then had to make my way across town to go to another Sunday School class.  See my Media class has a group project and we have been teaching a lesson to 5th and 6th graders about The Chronicles of Narnia.  Finally once that was over I was able to make my way back to the dorm with a massive headache! After grabbing some food I decided my best bet was to try and get some sleep since I had been out late the previous night and knew I had tons of homework still to do that night.  2 and a half hours later I woke up refreshed and I guess you could say ready to go (not really because who seriously wants to be doing homework on a Sunday night?!)  So I then worked from 5-8 on making notecards for my Leadership test that I have on Tuesday.  Then after that I worked from about 9-11:30 on a paper I also have due this week for my Leadership class.  After that I worked for another hour one those stupid notecards.  Needless to say come 1 a.m. I was exhausted and needed to go to bed!

So that was my weekend.  I wish I could have said it was fun filled and stress free, but it wasn't.  But hey every now and then we all have to sit down and have a weekend like that!

To Skip or Not to Skip? That is the Question

I am pretty sure not only Milligan students face this problem.  But here there always seems to be the dilemma of whether we should or should not go to class.  Now heres the deal.  We (or shall I say many of our parents) are paying THOUSANDS of dollars for us to be here and attend these so called amazing worth while classes.  But every now and then we either come across a class we don't care for or we have a professor who decides not to give us an attendance policy.  Now while I do want to say we are all adults here and there should never be a need for an attendance policy, I have noticed that if there is none people, myself included, don't go to the class.  I have yet to make up my mind on what is the right thing to do.  My gut says "Dude go to class you paying them to be there and so you need to get the most out of your money".  But my heart says "Look you hate the class, it is sooooo boring, and do they really care if you are there or not?"  So needless to say I try to go to my classes, but to be honest I don't always go.  But I can say that I go quite a bit more than most and once I go to one I usually go to the others.  Maybe one day I will choose the right road and go to all my classes all the time.....MAYBE!

This One is For My Mama!

This past two days I have spent time packing up what was once my families Mountain House.  And it did not hit until I was about to leave to come back to Milligan tonight that it would be the last time I would ever step foot in that house.  Now just so you all know I have only ever moved houses once in my life, and that was when I was 3 or 4 years old.  So needless to say the idea of never going back there has been kinda hard.
As I was saying good bye to my Mama, she started to cry, which in turn made me tear up.  I can only imagine what she was thinking, but I know it had something to do with the idea we would never be in that house together again.  That home holds so many memories from the 8 years we have been there.  And so I thought I would take some time to write those down for you mom, so that you won't ever have to forget!

REMEMBER WHEN:

The first winter we were up there and drove your truck up the driveway and got out then looked back and it was rolling out the drive way?  And Dad thought he was Superman or something and tried to run after it! Thank God for that ditch for saving it!

You and Dad and bunch of other couples spent weeks in the house around your birthday? I know I wasn't there but looking at the pictures, and hearing the stories I know you guys had a blast.

When you tried to ski a couple times?  The bunny slope was your best friend, but of course the olympic coaches and photographers couldn't stay away from you!

All the times we would sit as a family of 6 and play games around that table you love so much?  Between Taboo, Poker,  Charades, and all the other games, we sure as heck had a  lot of fun.

The first winter Annie came up and called her dad to see if she could drink over New Years?  And all he said was sure as long as she doesn't get up on top of the table and dance like a crazy woman.

The weekend in February when the Hunter's and Schuler's all came up there with us for a long weekend?  There was so much snow and so much fun had by all the kids and the adults.

All the Thanksgiving dinners me and you cooked in that kitchen?  Even though it was small and everyone thought they needed to be in there, we sure did make the most amazing food.

The first time we had Christmas there?  All of us kids were a little worried, we thought we might get fewer presents.  But you an Dad hauled EVERYTHING up there and then we went out and bought decorations.  Between the small light up tree and the Christmas lights, it sure made it a great time!

You and Denise Hunter tried to go down the driveway in the winter one time and you just decided to slide on your butt the whole way down?  Yeah you said you were going to fall anyways so it was just easier to start on your butt!

When Phillip came?  I think we took more walks to talk about that kid then we did the whole time we have had the house!  We now know if the Hardin's go on a walk and your not invited....that means were probably talking about you!

The first time Rudy saw saw the snow?  He went out for about two second then came right back in!

The Santa costume we got Rudy to wear up there?  And his fake mice that you had to call and tell Debbie about so that she didn't get scared?

Last year when we had Ella for the first time, but also had no electricity or anything?  Black Lab + Dark night does not work.  Putting us kids up in a hotel so that we had heat and a place to take showers.

Being able to fill the house on the Holidays with all of the family?  Those are the times I know I will never forget.  So much love in that house during those times.

Taking us kids to go look at lots?  I don't know what you and dad were thinking....looking at land is not fun for 12,13,15, and 16 year olds!

Dad's ribs?  Man he cooked the best ribs on those grills outside!  I think that was like the one meal we had every time we were there!!

Us kids being able to grow up seeing our Granddaddy all the time?  It was always the best getting to see him.  I knew he made seeing us a priority and we loved it so much.

I know there are so many more memories in that house.  Some good, some bad, and many we will never forget!  I am so grateful that we have had that house to grow in.  And even though I am crying as I write this, I know this is not the end of it all.  Just because that house will not be there for us, does not mean we will not be there for each other.  We are still going to have MANY more memories together as a family, and I for one cannot wait for those to start!!!

More Creativity Projects

As you all know this is the week for Milligan's Humanities Creativity Projects.  And so last night I was helping a good friend finish hers up (yes I know what you are all thinking, man Mosby is just so nice to be helping everyone with their projects, and yes that is true, just kidding!)  So lauren wanted to make a picture type thing by melting crayons.  But we soon figured out that it was going to take approximately 10 years to do that, and plus me + lighters never equals safety!  So instead I remembered way back to fifth grade when me and my mom did my planet project.  And all we did was shave down some crayons and then iron them to melt them.  And that is what me and Lauren decided to do.  It started off looking like this:
And then finally ended up looking like this:
I think we did a pretty good job! We had some fun and we laughed and worked our way through it, but in the end it worked!  Sometimes I can be crafty and love it!
