Crazy Cat Mom

I have reached the point in my life where I am willing and able to admit the sides of myself I may have previously been embarrassed to admit to.  If you know me in real life then you know I am kinda crazy and quirky.  But aren't we all?

If you follow me on social media or know me then you know I might sorta kinda be obsessed with Brutus, my cat.  Yes, I am a Crazy Cat Mom.  I would like to say I am just like every other pet owner, but I know the truth.  I'm crazy.

Lets look at a few examples of this craziness.

These two pictures?  I have DIED laughing over them many many times.  And I still do every time I see a glimpse of them.  I mean come on..sleeping with his eye open and then looking like he is missing an arm?  I DIE!!

Brutus and I have conversations.  I talk to him all the time.  While cooking dinner, when I leave the house or come home, when I am sad, when I am happy, and when I am bored.  I talk to Brutus all the time.

I give Brutus pretty much whatever he would like.  All he has to do is give me that look and then place his paws gently on my arm and he gets what he wants.  It's usually food.  Milk is his favorite.

Whenever I take Brutus to the vet I have one of two reactions: I laugh because he acts like a crazy man for no reason or I treat him like a momma's boy.  And hide him under the towels like this so that he feels safe.

Well I think that's enough sharing of my crazy cat mom status.  We all know I have now just shot down any chances of ever finding a boyfriend.  At least I have Brutus??

My Tuesday

We have all seen those "Day In A Life" blog posts.  In fact I did one at some point in time but I can't find the post and I am too lazy to look more for it.  All I know about it is that it was while I was in college.  And my life has changed since then and I know y'all are just dying to see what I do during my days.

For me each day looks different from each other.  But from week to week they stay the same.  I know what I do each day of the week (most of the time) even with the many changes that would happen.  I chose Tuesday to show you for a two reasons.

1.  It was the day I remembered to take pictures of my day
2.  It is was one of my busier days where I have much more going on.

So here it is, what Mosby did on November 4, 2014.

6:30 a.m. Wake up.  Check social media.  Stretch.  Think about what I want to wear that day.  Go potty.  Get ready for the day.

7:00 a.m. Done getting ready and now reading blogs.  Normally I would be cooking breakfast at this time but I was out of food and decided to just go to Dunkin Donuts instead.  So I am wasting time till I need to leave.  And of course the blog I am reading is another "Day In The Life Post"

7:10 a.m. Leave for Dunkin and work.  Make sure to give Brutus kisses goodbye.

7:45 a.m. Get to Lighthouse to start Grief Group at 8.  This week we were finishing going over the Biblical references to our topic.  I love that we are able to make connections like this for the women.  It has become a time where I learn right along with them, which I always love spending time learning in my Bible.

8:50 a.m. Done with group.  Remind clients they will be seeing me.  Talk to the girls and catch up a little.  I always miss so much over the weekends and I love that they want to fill me in.  Knowing I am not just their "life coach" but also like a friend.  It doesn't happen with all of them, but the ones it does is always great.

9:00 a.m. Get my files and head to my office.  Decide I am tired of the clutter and reorganized for a minute.  And I finally put something up on my walls! Thursday I plan to bring in some lamps to make the space even better.

9:10 a.m. Go pick up my first client.  I say pick up because he is 4 and cannot get to my office on his own.  We then proceed to have a tea party, play darts, open the window and watch cars, and play catch with my question soccer ball.  Overall I call it an awesome session.

9:55 a.m. Drop my client back off at pre-school.  Go back to my office and write in his file.  Go potty.  Talk to some of the caseworkers, the other counselor there, and prep for my next client.

10:45 a.m. While talking to a caseworker and the other counselor again I mention things I am in need of for my office and Play Therapy room.  The other counselor and I are given permission to go to the toy room and find some things I needed.  I was SO excited to finally have some baby dolls and Barbies!

11:30 a.m.  Second client comes in for her session.

12:15 a.m.  Session done.  Write in file.  As I am wrapping up at Lighthouse I get distracted by other clients.  I run back and forth between offices trying to finish up so I can head out.

12:35 a.m. I finally leave LH and head to the grocery store.  Half way there I get a reminder on my phone that I have a meeting with my school supervisor at 1:00.  So I quickly turn around and make it to the school right on time.

1:30 a.m. Make it to the grocery store.  At this point I am starving and just want to go as quickly as possible.

2:00 a.m. Make it home and unload the groceries.  Finally sit down and eat the yummy salad I bought for lunch since I was starving at the grocery store and always end up buying myself more food than I need when this happens.

2:30 p.m. Watch Gilmore Girls.  Return emails and play on the computer.  Mostly spend time of Facebook and blogging.  A little homework was done.  As in 5 minutes worth.  Look at me being an overachiever!

3:00 p.m. I'm exhausted and since I know I have class til 10 p.m. I take a 30 minute nap.

3:30 p.m. Wake up wishing I could keep sleeping.  Get my things together for class and pack my dinner.

4:30 p.m. First class of three of the evening.  It is my internship class where we get to share about clients and ask important questions.  It is also where we all know I do my best blogging and homework.

5:50 p.m. Break for 10 minutes in between classes.  Prep with a friend for our presentation during out third class.

6:05 p.m.  Back to class and back to blogging.  And time to eat.  I was pretty happy I brought this sandwich with me.  Cubans are my favorite.  Also this class is Psychopathology.  Definitely one of my favorites and I tend to do a little more listening and little less blogging.

7:50 p.m. Break for 10 minutes before our last class of the night, Spiritual Integration.  By this point I am done blogging, done listening, and do not want to present in class.  But Cat and I must.  I actually didn't mind this presentation on one of my clients.  I am always a fan of talking about them when I am allowed to.

9:50 p.m.  Done with class and time to head home.  All evening I have spent time looking for a sub job and know I will have to wake up early to get one for Wednesday.

10:10 p.m. Make it home and crash on the couch and cuddle with Brutus for a little bit.  I know I need to go to bed but I want to watch more Gilmore girls.

7 Ways I Lost My Mind

Come 2 p.m. yesterday I was ready to curl up in a ball on my nanny families couch and cry myself to sleep.  If only Roman could watch his 3 year old self without supervision...but then I would lose my job and since I already almost lost one job, I decided it wouldn't be wise to risk losing my favorite job.

If almost losing one job wasn't bad enough, I have had everything that could go wrong go wrong over the course of the last two weeks or so.  I swear I am losing my mind.  If this month doesn't end soon then I think I really might curl up in a ball on my couch and wait till it does.  Actually how about we just skip right on to Christmas break?

How have I been losing my mind lately you ask?  What all has gone wrong?  If we are friends on Facebook you have already heard most of these.  But we all know nothing really happens unless I blog about it.  Because that seals the truth forever (say what??? see I am losing my mind)

1.  I placed an order online and gave the wrong credit car number.  Now for a girl who shops mostly online this is defeating.  At least the girl I bought from is a friend (Hi Haylie!) and totally understood.  And at least I got my package in the mail yesterday.  Nothing is better than new makeup and face cleaners!

2.  I place another order online a couple weeks back and did not give my full address.  I did not figure this out till 3 days after it has been shipped back to the sender.  I really wanted that cardigan...

3.  I place ANOTHER order online through Amazon for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.  Considering I just finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone I have been dying to get my hands on the book.  It was should have been delivered by yesterday.  Amazon said I got it a week ago.  I have yet to see it.

4.  I agreed to babysit for a Halloween party Friday night.  I thought it was for friends of my nanny family, so I told them I would see them there.  It was for a completely different family that they don't even know.  Maybe I should make sure to get names before I say anything...

5.  That job I mentioned I almost lost?  My substitute teaching job.  I missed subbing for one important day, which they told me was not that important and would not matter, and next thing I know they are telling me to resign.  I was not about to go down without a fight.  Fortunately, they heard me out and I get to keep making the big bucks!

6.  I forgot all about filing for financial aid and found out last week that I needed to pay my tuition.  Yeah I don't exactly have that kind of money just sitting around.  Fortunately they still let me file and only gain a couple late charges.

7.  I had to put together a brochure for a support group I help run.  First off I HATE BROCHURES.  Second it took me two hours to complete.  I created 5 brochures till I finally liked one enough to send it to my supervisor.  That is after asking her what the initials for a group name stand for...

All I need to do is make it through this week and this month and this year.  Lots of prayers for some sanity would be greatly appreciated.  I will leave you with the wise words of a 5 year old "I think my brain fell out.  Do you think that could really happen?  I don't feel it in there anymore.  It definitely fell out."

Call Me Master Chef…NOT!

This weekend I was going through my Pinterest food board looking for something to eat for dinner when I came across Lauren's Zucchini Muffins recipe.  She made these for me back when I visited her in Tennessee and I begged her to put the recipe on her blog.  When I saw them this weekend I craved them and knew I needed to make them.

So I looked through my kitchen and all I needed was the zucchini, which I picked up at the grocery store on Saturday.  Please make note I was proud because I thought I had bought some pretty big ones at a good price.  Fast forward to last night.

I was making the muffins and had done everything but grate the zucchini.  I find out I don't have a grater like I thought, but instead pulled out my food processor (Thanks Kel!) which worked perfectly! First problem solved.  As I continued chopping up the zucchini I started smelling it and noticing that its insides were a little different than I remember zucchini being.  Thats when I realize….. I BOUGHT CUCUMBERS!!!!

I knew that smell was familiar! I was seriously mad that I had done this! I really was craving the muffin goodness.  So I texted Lauren telling her what I did.  I didn't know if I should just wing it and have cucumber muffins or cook the rest of the batter without the "zucchini".  With Lauren's help I decided to do half and half.

So after 25 minutes I pulled them out and did a taste test……

Regular Batter: Super yummy and cinnamon but a little dense

Cucumber Muffins: Definitely have a slight test of cucumber and I would prefer the zucchini, but really not awful!

If you ever learn anything from me, let it be this: Read the directions and read the labels!!

That One Time My Sister Set Me Up...

January 1, 2014.  A night I will not be forgetting anytime soon.  And no you should not be getting your hopes up that I am about to tell you all about how I met a wonderful man and we are now dating and happy happy happy.  Because that would be a lie.  A big lie.  Instead I will not be forgetting that night for a very long time because of embarrassment.  Horrible embarrassment!

You see Mattie, my wonderful sister wanted to go out that night.  It was the night before her 24th birthday and she wanted to start celebrating.  She begged and begged and begged me to go out with her.  I really didn't want to go.  It's not my scene and I knew I was not going to have fun.  But I didn't want her to go by herself, and I didn't want her driving.  So I went.

I should have known something was up when her tactic to convince me to go out was "You never know you might meet a boy!!"  We headed out to meet up with her best friend and his roommate whom neither of us had ever met before.  We got there, sat down, ordered drinks and it took off from there.

After being there for about 20-30 minutes I get a text from my sister "Hey do you think the roommate's cute?"  Thinking she was asking for herself and not wanting to make her feel bad I responded with "Yeah. Kinda."  Let it be known I was not attracted to him AT ALL! So not my type it's incredible.  Pretty much the exact opposite of what I like. 32 and divorced was the first sign it would never work.

Mattie had alternative plans.  She had her plan and put it into action.  She was setting me up.  So when I said he was "kinda cute" she took it as it meant I was interested in him.  She then drilled him with questions.  Which further got me thinking she was the one interested.  Next thing I know she keeps throwing my name into every sentence and "finding" things we had in common.

"You like Auburn? So does Mosby!" (most weren't true) "You have a dog? She has a cat?" "Your divorced? So is Mosby!"

That last statement lead into this great story.  "Mosby married a guy from South Africa.  His name was Pablo and he spoke like 5 different languages.  But he would refuse to speak to Mosby in English.  That mixed with the fact that he would never put out made her leave him."  Yup she told him I was married and divorced.  Fortunately he was smart enough to catch on to the fact that it was a lie.

Then since marriage had come up, Mattie decided this guy and I (I think his name was Rob? That shows you how much I was interested) should get married.  And it should be on the beach since that is what I have always wanted.  And in bikini's!!!! Man she is a good wedding planner.

All night long she would not stop commenting on how perfect we were for each other.  I know I was greatly embarrassed and didn't know what to do and I am sure this guy was too.  I did my best to get away at the end of the night without and awkward goodbye.  But he then asked for my number.  I didn't know what to do so I gave it to him.  And he texted me that night and then never again.  Thank God!!

Oh and they made us take a picture together.  This is my "I'm pissed bitch face but I will fake smiling so you will get off my back." Also I only posted the picture so you will all know who not to ever set me up with.

From now on I refuse to ever be set up.  Especially by my sister.  Never ever again!  Have you ever been set up and it been horrible?  Please tell me all about it!!

Life is Overwhelming

Lately I have been so overwhelmed with life.  I don't even know which way is up. Which has a lot to do with my lack of posting on here.  I have half written post so many times.  But never finish them.  Blogging is my last priority right now.  At the end of the day the last thing I want to do is sit down and write anything.

So much has happened within in the 4 weeks.  I mean seriously my life has completely changed so quickly that I just don't hardly recognize myself anymore.  I can't find my true self and that is scary and not fun.  I need to slow down and find her again.  What has me going to crazy you ask?

I started 2 new jobs.
I started grad school.
I moved into a new apartment.
I adopted a kitten.

Seriously what was I thinking doing all of these major life changes all at one time?  Its overwhelming and I am struggling.  I don't feel like I am giving any aspect of my life the amount of time it really needs to prosper.  My focus isn't 100% on grad school or work.  Two VERY important things.

I know I will get better at all of this.  I know I will be able to balance everything soon.  I am working hard on finding my routine.  I need some monotony in my life right now.  If I find that then I know I will find me again.

So friends bear with me while I go through this transition.  I have faith I will come out on the other side so much stronger and so much better.  I have amazing people in my life right now and with them I know I will look back on this and laugh:)

Apartment Shopping

I have always longed to have a place to call my own.  A home that is mine and that I am responsible for.  Little did I know this wonderful dream of mine would have a long stressful road in front of it.

Once I made the decision to move back to my hometown and go to school here I started looking for apartments.  The hard part with that was I had no clue what my price range was or where everything was really located.

And now that I do have those answers?  Even more stressed.  Everything I have liked is out of my price range.  And everything in my price range is not in the area I want to live.  And the few places that fit both area and price are not always the best.

The past two days I have look at four different apartments.  And get excited because I am going to share it all with you...the good, the bad, and the very very ugly.

Apartment #1

This duplex was the very first place I saw.  It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and is about 1000 square feet.  When I walked in I loved the living area and kitchen.  It was exactly what I wanted.  But when I saw the bedrooms I got very discouraged.  I have really bulky bedroom furniture and the rooms were way too small for it.  Also I would really prefer not to have carpet.  The location was good and I really liked the kitchen, but I was super bummed about the bedrooms.

Apartment #2

This place is located right down the road from the school I am going to and according to the owner my neighbors would be other students as well.  That being said the street did not make me feel very safe, which is very important to me.  Inside the bedrooms were much bigger than the first apartment, which was great to see.  The kitchen was huge but it lacked the dishwasher I really wanted.  Over all though I just had this feeling this was not the place for me and needed to move on.

Apartment #3
via
I had heard really great things about this place.  It is located downtown and was suppose to be the place every young person wanted to be.  Two people told me the apartments were big and really cute.  I think they need to have their eyes checked.  First off heat and air are in a wall unit.  Then the walls looks like they had damage.  Oh and the kitchen...you get to it from the bedroom.  And that bedroom could hardly hold a twin sized bed.  And the kitchen is probably smaller than your bathroom.  Honestly I could not get out of there fast enough.

Apartment #4
via
This complex was one of the first ones I ever looked at even before I knew my price range.  Unfortunately it is a little bit more than I would like to pay.  But when I tell you it won me over I am not lying.  The moment when got there I felt safe.  It is gated and for a single young girl this made a difference.  The space was just the right size.  Came with washer and dryer in unit, a dishwasher, a patio, and the largest walk in closet I have ever seen.  Hopefully I will somehow be able to make this place work.

I never knew this journey would be as stressful as it is.  But I am so thankful to have parents who support me and are willing and able to help me out.  If apartment number 4 is not the place for me, I know God will provide the right one!

Senior Year in Review

10 months ago I walked on campus to start my last year at Milligan.  I cannot believe how fast Senior year has flown by.  Seriously it is blowing my mine that I will be walking back across Seeger's stage accepting my diploma and then leaving Milligan for good.

This year has been truly amazing.  I have had some ups and downs but overall I am so thankful for the time I have spent here this year at Milligan! So for your viewing pleasure here are some pictures all from Senior Year! (Be prepared for picture overload)

And for kicks and giggle I stole this next photo from Lauren!

Opening and Shutting Doors

I firmly believe that for every door closed God will open another.  He never leaves us without and there is always a plan in place...even if we do not know what that plan is.  You know the saying "patience is a virtue"?  Yeah I need to work on that one.

After making the decision to move back home and go to Southeastern for grad school, I knew I would need to start looking for a job.  I wanted so badly to be out in the real world and be a big girl with a big girl job.  And I wanted to have the job RIGHT NOW!

There was a problem with that.  My schooling will not always allow me to have a full time job.  Yes my classes will be at night, but once I start my practicums and then internships I won't be able to work all the time.  So what was I suppose to do?

I thought maybe I would get a job at the school.  This way they would know what they were getting if they hired me and would be more willing to work with my schedule.  And I thought I had found a job to apply for.

But when I looked yesterday to finish my application the job was gone.  They had already filled the position.  What was I suppose to do now? I was so let down and didn't know where to go.  So I prayed about it.

Little did I know God had been preparing me for this.

I LOVE kids.  And I hate the idea of not being able to work with kids in any way.  My job at the gym was still there for me if I wanted it.  And I know in the fall I can substitute teach around my schedule.  This opportunity and job has been there the whole time.

This was not what I thought I wanted to do.  It is not following the plan that I had in mind for myself post graduation.  But the door has opened and I feel that it is the right path to follow.  And I am majorly relieved that I have secured me a job.

So here is to looking forward to being back with my kiddos and enjoying the doors God has so graciously opened for me!

8 Weeks

In 8 weeks my whole life is going to change.  In 8 weeks I leave the place I have called home for the past 4 years.  In 8 weeks I leave the girls who have held me together for 4 years.  In 8 weeks I graduate from college.

First Day at Milligan
I cannot believe the time has almost come.  I still remember stepping foot on campus that first day of Freshmen year.  I remember meeting "those girls" and the laughs we shared while getting to know each other.  I remember the life changes of Sophomore and Junior year.  And I cannot believe it is all in the past.

They say this time goes by faster than you think...it's true.  I am growing up.  I am REALLY growing up.  Sometimes I don't want to, and other times I am DYING to!

Now I don't want this post to be a sad one.  I want it to be a happy one.  I am beyond grateful for the past 4 years.  I would not trade them for anything in the world.  I grew up a lot here at Milligan.  Yes, I still may be a princess, but I am a strong princess.

I am going to miss this place and "those girls", but I know I can always come back and visit and that the girls will always be there.

Looking back I feel so lucky that I got to be here.  I feel lucky to get to be friends with "those girls".  I feel lucky to also be going where I am going.  God has definitely been looking out for me.

While my whole world may be changing, I can't wait to see what happens.  And I really cannot wait to grow even more.  Watch everyone (and hopefully myself) get married and have babies and always come back to out "home".

For those of you who have made this transition, PLEASE tell me all will be ok?!
