My First Stitch Fix

Ever since we all found out about Stitch Fix I have wanted to do it so bad!  Only recently did I finally give in to my desires and do it.  I wanted to get it as soon as possible and knew I was going to have so much fun with it!  Here is what I received.
*please ignore my hair.  I had just gotten back from a hair appointment and had not fixed it to my liking.

I hated this top.  It was that high-low trend in a knit sweater.  It was also kinda cropped which I hate.  I would have loved this knit if it was longer.  Just so not me and not something I would have ever worn.

Both this top and jeans were in my Fix.  The jeans did not fit, which is why you do not see them very much.  About 2 inches too long and too tight on me.  Plus they were wide leg and I prefer a boot cut or skinnier leg.  I loved everything but the sleeves on this top.  Too wide on the end.  Also it was a touch tight in the shoulders.  But I LOVED the print!

I LOVED this dress.  It was a great style on me and I felt great in it.  I contemplated long and hard over this dress.  But I did not get it either.  I wash't in love with the color.  I do not wear a lot of blue and usually don't care for it on me.  And since I wasn't completely in love with it I could not justify buying it.

This necklace was the last piece I received.  I loved the necklace.  But I have something similar too it and I really do not wear too much jewelry.  So it was a no go too.
So I didn't end up purchasing anything.  Nothing was spot on with my style and what I wanted.  I also just went shopping the other day, so I wasn't as willing to spend more money on something I just liked. Just because I did not purchase anything does not mean it was not worth it!  It was so much fun and I will totally do it again in the future…after Christmas!

My Apartment: The After

Three weeks after moving in and sharing with you all the before pictures of my apartment, I am FINALLY ready to show you all the after pictures.  Now please keep in mind that it's always going to be a work in progress.  But here is what I have for now and I am very happy with it:)
Why don't we start with the kitchen.  I still love the size of my kitchen.  I just feel like it still needs some color in it.  Compared to my living and dining rooms it is REALLY white.

And then we have my dining room.  Yes I am missing a chair for my table.  It is in my bedroom being used as a desk chair currently.  I am looking to add a bookshelf in the corner near the window.  Other than that I love this room!

The living room is by far my most favorite room in the whole place.  I look at it now that it is more put together and I just fall in love.  I want to sit in there all day every day. PS mad props to my mom for recovering all of my couch cushions!

Also the wall with quotes on it is going to grow.  I just have to find some more prints that I am in love with.  For now this whole wall is done in thanks to Lauren.  All printables were made by her:) 

Here is a good view of the openness of the place.  I love how open everything is and how I can watch tv while I cook.  Oh and please excuse the trash by the door.  I was cleaning and getting everything put together yesterday when I took these pictures.

And then we have the bathroom aka Brutus's room.  He stays in here at night and when I am not home.  So you will find his food, bed, and litter box in here.  This is the one room I am not crazy about.  I just don't know what I want to do to change it.

My bedroom/office.  Again this room is not completely done.  I feel like it is a little bear and I need to add to it.  But I want to love it before I put it in there.  And your not seeing my amazingly huge closet because it is amazingly messy.  

Oh and excuse this mess at the desk.  I am in the process of writing a lovely paper.  

Well there she is friends.  I love it and cannot wait to keep making it my own place and a home.  

Apartment Makeover Part 3

Another apartment project is done!  I have so loved being able to redo so many things for my new place.  Some people like to get things brand new...but I have loved being able to make things my own! For my other projects look here and here.  

This time I painted two tables that I am going to use as side tables in my living room.  They are really tv dinner trays, but since I don't have a lot of space in my living room, they will be perfect for it!

Here is what they looked like before:

I think I have mentioned before that I have only darker furniture in my new place.  So this light wood was not working for me at all.  And I figured this would be the perfect time to bring some more color into the place!

And here is the after!  I picked orange from one of the colors in my fabrics.  I think it was the perfect color and I cannot see it in the place in a couple of weeks!

It's more of a burnt orange than the pictures show.  I didn't want something SUPER vibrant.  I am loving warm colors and wanted to incorporate more.

I have almost completed one more project...recovering my couch cushions!  Actually my Mom is making the covers for them!  Unfortunately a post with pictures will have to wait till I move in.  Only two more weeks friends:)))

Apartment Makeover Part 2

A couple weeks ago I finished my first makeover project for my new apartment.  That table is now everything I wanted it to be and I cannot wait to put it in the new place! This past weekend I worked on my second makeover project: my desk.

It is another piece from my parent's beach house that never really got used.  As much as I am not a fan of whicker, this desk is the perfect size for what I needed.  And well of course there is to be no white furniture in my apartment so it had to get painted.

My goal/plan was to paint it mint.  Typically I prefer a more green mint color over the more blue mint color.  Well when I went to buy paint, I thought I got the color I wanted.  Turns out I got more of a light blue color than the mint I really wanted.

And after it dried I loved it!  I plan on using the same color to paint the wooden monogram I received for graduation from our neighbors to hang above my bed.  Coral and this blueish/mint color are what I believe my colors are going to be.

I hate that I was not able to capture the real color of the desk in these pictures.  It is so light that most of the pictures make it look white.  Hopefully when it is in the apartment and I take new pictures you will be able to see the color better!

Apartment Makeover Part 1

If you didn't already know I am SUPER DUPER DUPER excited about moving into my new apartment in just less than 2 months!!!!  Seriously I wish I was moving tomorrow and had everything ready to go.  Unfortunately/fortunately I still have some time.
This weekend I completed my first apartment project.  There will be more makeovers so that would be why this post is title Part 1.  
My parents gave me a table and 4 chairs that had been in the upstairs of our beach house that was really only used to hold our stuff and hang towels over.  While I did not love the coloring of it, I fell in LOVE with the basic design of it.  
This meant I had some work to do.  And I was extremely excited to makeover my very first piece of furniture!  So here is what I started with:

Since I do not have any other white furniture going into my apartment, I decided to spray paint the table and chairs a chocolate brown.  And since I do not plan on have a beach theme, I got rid of the sea shell fabric and added fabric that was more my style and color.  And here is what I got:

I honestly could not love it more.  And since the table was free I only spent about $24 on paint and $22 on fabric.  This means for less than $50 I have a brand new (to me) table and chair for my apartment.  Oh and by the way the glass is missing for the table top!
Up next I have a desk to makeover, some couch pillows, and some other fun crafts!  I cannot wait to not only have it all done but all in my apartment as well!

Notice something new around here? Maybe a whole new design?! Oh yes it is finally here and I could not be anymore excited about it!

My bestie Lauren has recently gotten into blog design.  I asked if she would be willing to do something new for me and of course being the wonderful lady she is she said YES!

Friends she is amazing at what she does.  I do not think she could have come up with a design more ME!  She did this for my birthday (18 days!!!) and it is the best birthday gift!

Picture Perfect

I mentioned earlier this week that Lauren and I went out last Saturday to take some new pictures.  We both felt like we needed some new ones for our blogs.  Have I mentioned before how much I love this girl?  She is seriously one awesome friend.
It was an over cast day, which apparently is perfect for picture taking.  Our goal was to get good pictures without you being able to really tell where we were.  You see here at Milligan there are some iconic picture taking spots.  
And of course we wanted to use those spots because they really are great for pictures.  Overall I think we both did a great job of capturing each other (even if it was my first time using such a nice camera).

You can't expect me to be serious the whole time now can you?!

This lady is so use to being behind the camera and hates being in front.  But I think I got some good ones for her:)

Outfit change time!  And like I said...I'm not a serious person.

Bottom left has been deemed The Mosby Face.  Apparently I make this look quite often...

Weekend Recap

Weekends always seem to go by way too fast.  No me gusta.  This one was quite a fun little one for me with lots of reasons to be proud!

1. Friday I headed to the gym to get my workout on.  I have figured out that by adding weights into my routine I do better running.  Yeah no brainer there!  But I got in over an hour at the gym and felt so great after wards!

2. Lo and I went running on Saturday and our goal was to hit 3 miles! As you can see I did that plus some! I am SO beyond proud of myself for how well I have been doing.  I have been going at this for almost 2 months now.  I am even prouder of Lauren.  She ran 4 miles on Saturday!! Love her for being there and pushing me!

3&4.  Before running on saturday Lauren and I did a little photo shoot.  We were both in need of some new pictures for our blogs and decided to make this happen.  I had never used such a nice camera before and it got me so excited to get one of my own!  Can't wait to show you all the other pictures taken:)

I Lost 10 Inches...

Of hair that is! Yesterday I made the decision to FINALLY cut off most of my hair!  While it took me forever to get it to the length it was at, I was more than ready to be done with it!

My hair was long, thick, and super curly.  That combination is not the best one to have if you ask me!  I was very quickly becoming very annoyed by my hair.  Being that it is the middle of summer was not helping at all either.

When I would shower I would have to spend at least 5 minutes combing through my hair.  Yes I comb through my hair in the shower...it's the only way it ever gets brushed.  I would have knots out the wahzoo and hated it.

I also started noticing that I would much rather pull my hair up than deal with it down.  So between all of those reasonings, plus just needing to change it up, I cut my hair!

I started with my hair looking like this:

And ended up with it looking like this:

Don't you just love it?! I know I do! It is so light weight and out of the way.  I think I am a little obsessed with it!

Another reason I chose to cut my hair now is because it was long enough for me to donate my hair.  I love growing it out and then donating it.  About 4 years ago I did this and donated to Locks of Love.

After a little research I chose to change where I was going to donate.  I chose Pantene Beautiful Lengths.  I really liked what they do with the hair donated, and I didn't have to cut as much off.

I strongly encouraged anyone and everyone to do this at least once in their life.  Your hair can always grow back, and you get to help someone out.

PS. Thank you all SO much for all the love yesterday about my weight loss.  I have never been more motivated than I am now to keep going with this:)  If you missed the post go check it out here!
