Creativity Project

Here at Milligan during your second semester in Humanities everyone is required to do what is a called a creativity project.  These range from people writing songs, taking photos, painting pottery, making quilts, making scrapbooks, and some ever go as far as to make silent films.  All you have to do is come up with something creative to do that will somehow relate to a topic that has been studied in humanities.  While all of those unartistic types, like me, dread projects like this, many embrace it and come up with some pretty cool things.

This year one of the freshmen, Angela, a good friend of mine, had people around campus write their favorite Bible verse on the palm of their hand and she then took a photo of it.  I participated and here is an example of what I am talking about.
I absolutely LOVED this idea and thought it was awesome.  Now I'm not quite sure what she is going to do with all of the pictures in the end, but I still love the idea.  Now you all can see how Milligan Humanities program can SOMETIMES, but definitely not all the time, be somewhat fun!

Shopping with the Besties

So this weekend has consisted of so many trips to the mall that it has almost made me not want to go back for a LONG time.  It actually started Wednesday and never seemed to end.  You see this weekend is Milligan's Junior/Senior Banquet and of course my two best friends are going.  Eliza will be there on business, and Ashlee will be there for fun.  So since they both decided to go they both needed new dresses, shoes, and accessories.  Wednesday we went in search of Eliza's dress, and of course I picked it out and it is absolutely PERFECT for her.  Then on Saturday me and Ashlee went in search of her dress and found the one perfect for her.  Come Sunday though they both still needed shoes and accessaries.

So we headed out on what I thought was going to be about an hour long trip to the mall with the girls.  I had on what I wore to church, which had included heels.  Little did I know we would end up being at the mall for hours and with some added people.

Let me just let you all know, being the 5th wheel, even if it is with your two best friends, is not always fun.  Granted we had a great time and it was not too bad, but when you add boys into the mix it just makes shopping take so much longer.

Eventually we found all of the shoes, accessories, ties, pants, and everything else you could possibly need for Junior/Senior.  Oh and we had a little fun in the mix of it all too.

The only way to make Ashlee any where near the same height as Eliza....put her in 5 inch heels! (BTW Ashlee cannot walk in heels)

The Need for Change

There are times when I hate change.  Big changes in life are the worst for me and I usually do not welcome them with open arms.  This is mostly the whole idea of moving.  My family has lived in the same house for the past 16 years, so the idea of picking up my life and moving somewhere else always scares me.  I had to do this in order to come to college, and I seem to do it every summer when I go to camp.  As much as i hate these changes I do them anyways because I know they are the right things for me to do.

Little changes in life I love.  Little things like changing the layout of my blog, or rearranging my room, or any kind of little decorating things. And today I felt that need for a little change in my life.  So I changed the layout of my blog, as you can see.

I always seem to hope that by accepting and engaging in small changes I will one day be able to accept some bigger changes in life.  And they do help so I think I will keep up with them and start to accept more bigger changes in life.

Getting a Little Crafty!

So this weekend I was inspired by two friends to be a little crafty.  Years ago my wonderful mother painted  letters of my name for me.  I have always kept them and loved them.  Well on Saturday I decided that the pale pink (that has faded so much it is not really pink anymore) and the green just weren't what I wanted.  So I decided to paint them.
This is what they started off looking like.
And this is them all done and back up on my wall.

Now I know thats not the biggest change, but I'm not the craftiest person ever.  I lack many skills in that department so I decided it was best just to keep it as simple as possible.  Berry and Brown work for me and are my new inspiration for the colors I want to use in my room next year!

5 hour talks

This here is Rebecca Hughston.  Probs one of my best friends that I have here at Milligan.  This picture was taken about a year and a half ago, and still to this day we love each other and are there for each other.  Last night is a good example of that.  Thursday night is date night with Beck.  This usually just means we have dinner and then hang out till about 7 when she has a meeting.  Last night though, was much better than that.
I met up with Becky in her office at 4:15 and waited and talked with her until she got off work at 5. We then headed up the hill to the caf for dinner.  We had a great dinner just talking about anything and everything till about 6.  We then went and sat outside in order to enjoy the beautiful day and watch the sun set.  As we sat out there we got to watch all of the guys just goof off on the hill and again talk more about anything and everything.  I think this was the perfect ending to the day!
We didn't go back inside until about 8:30 that night.  I absolutely loved it and would never trade that night for any other time in my life.  Becky I love you and you are seriously the best ever!

Psalm 28:7

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him."
This is the verse I am clinging to today.  Not just really clinging to but holding so tight I don't think I can let go.  Many things in life are not always going to go as I planned them to.  There are going to be bumps and bruises along the way, and as long as I hold on and believe and trust in this verse, I know I can get through anything.  I am in need of prayer to get through this next day, week, and who knows how long (lets face it, I am always in need of prayer!) I know that through Christ all things can be accomplished and whatever He brings me to, He will bring me through.

Spring Break Faves

Spring Break holds many of my favorite things in life.
1. My Family
2. A long lost friend (she wasn't really lost just a long ways away)
3. A New favorite snack
All of these things combine with lots of rest and not having to do anything has made for a great spring break! I could not have asked for a better time spent with family and friends.  There was no worrying to be done, nothing to fight over, and lots of pampering for me!

IM HOME!!!!!

Already back for a day and I am loving it!!! After a long 10 hour drive in the middle of the night, and arriving home at 3 am, I am now well rested and enjoying some great time with my family.  Last night we all enjoyed some talking on our back porch and this is what I got to look at.
Oh how I have missed my back yard.  All of the GORGEOUS sunsets over the lake are the best and I had forgotten how much I missed them.  Enjoying this with some of my favorite people was the best night I could have asked for.  Plus we got to go eat Sushi!

Layla the Blackberry

So Layla, my blackberry, decided that it looked like fun to jump in a puddle yesterday.  I did not approve of her decision.  You see she floated there for a while and now she wont fully work for me!  She turns on and I can send and receive phone calls, and kind of some texts, but thats about it.  She no longer receives my emails or anything important.  And this is so not good.  I rely on Layla for a lot and could really use her to work.  So now I have to wait until mom and dad Hardin decide what I should do! I love Layla but I think her time has come to an end.  I will let you all know as soon as I know what Layla's fate will be!
