Sometimes and Always #19

So it has been a little while since I have done this linkup and I must say I have missed it! So happy to join in again with the super cute preggers Megan!

Sometimes: I cannot believe we only have 3 weeks left of summer
Always: I am SO excited to be heading back to Milli!

Sometimes: I get discouraged when my weight doesn't continue to go down EVERYDAY
Always: I remember that slow and steady wins the race.  Plus losing a pound EVERYDAY is like ridiculous!

Sometimes: I am ready to be done with this job
Always: I know I am going to miss the girls and kids I work with!

Sometimes: I get sick
Always: I am like a baby when I am sick.  I curl up with a good book and prayers that I will feel better soon!

Sometimes: I need a good new drink to love
Always: Starbucks does me right!
Cool Lime Refresher is SO yum! The Very Berry Hibiscus is pretty awesome too!

If You Really Knew Me...

Yes we all know this is going around the blogosphere.  And yes I am still going to do it.  I just think it is all kinds of fun to get to know everyone just that much more!

If you really knew me and we were best friends then...

You would know that I am NOT a morning person.  I hate them and I will hate you if you talk to me in the mornings before I am fully awake.  Just ask my first roommate

You would know that back when I was a kid for about 7 years I threw pottery.  As in I made pots.  And I was really awesome at it.  I have well over 100 pieces that Mamerz stores rather nicely around the house!
Just a few up on the mantle
You would know that my favorite color is pink.

You would know that I gravitate towards black and grey clothes.  I just like how they look.  They are the biggest sections in my closet.

Speaking of my closet, you would know that I organize my closet by color.  Easiest way in the world to pick something out!

You would know that I love my family a lot and I love to come home...but for short periods of time.  A little goes a long way for me!

You would know that Mosby is actually my middle name.  My full name...Mary Mosby Hardin.  I have always gone by Mosby, and I have ALWAYS dreaded the first day of school when I have to tell all of my teachers that I go by Mosby instead of Mary.  And yes some have laughed and thought I made it up.  Not that creative people!

You would know I never thought I would like Tennessee and now I have no plans to leave there anytime soon.
All because of these girls!
You would know that one of my favorite parts of the week is going to church and hanging out with my kids.

You would know that I have some antisocial behaviors.  Such as I won't go into the caf at school if I don't know anyone else going.

You would know that I am a complete nerd.  I try my hardest to make A's in all of my classes.  I don't always succeed at that, but I work my butt off!
Yeah I study...ALOT!
You would know that I have begged my parents to never get me a dog, and have told my friends to never let me get one.  It's not that I don't like other peoples dogs, I just don't want one of my own!

You would know that when we become friends I will probs be one of the best friends you have ever had.  Just ask the besties.  I am loyal to a fault and will have your back no matter what.

What should we all know about you?

BLOG MAKEOVER!!!!

When you opened this page you probably started to wonder where you were....well don't worry it's still me, Mosby.  Yup I warned you major changes were going to happen! And as you can see it did!

So I had been thinking for MONTHS about doing a blog makeover.  I was a little tired of what was going on, and in the mood for something new.  So I went a searching for a what I wanted when I stumbled upon Nicholl at The Chiffon Diary and her new blog makeover.  That led me to Aubrey.  I fell in LOVE with her designs right away.  Seriously you must go check her out!  She is SO great to work with and I could not have found anyone better:)

After finding what I wanted, I needed to decide when I wanted to do it.  And I decided that sooner is better than later so why not now!

You also may notice the name of this blog has changed.  What was once The Life of a Milligan College Student, is now Simplicity is Key.  Why the name change? Well I started this little blog almost 2 years ago and thought I would just write about what was going on at Milli.  Well gradually this all turned into more of a lifestyle blog.  So I wanted something that was a little more me.  And plus I knew I was going to have to change the name soon anyways because I will be graduating from Milligan soon!

And that is where Simplicity is Key comes in.  I like things simple.  The simpler the better.  When things get complicated I get confused and just don't like it.  Keeping things simple is the way I like to go so I thought the name Simplicity is Key was perfect:) (also having to type out The Life of a Milligan College Student takes forever and Simplicity is Key is well....simple!)

So I hope you like what you see and stay around a while:)

P.S. The blog address will probs be changing soon.  Don't worry I will let you know when :)

It's OK Thursday!

Its Ok Thursdays

So excited to be able to linkup with Neely and Amber today on their 1 year anniversary of It's OK Thursday!

This week seems to have gone by pretty quickly for me (yay!) and I am so ready for this weekend! Going to go get my tan on and just relax!

So what is OK with me today?

It's Ok...

...that I am still getting use to my new haircut.  Trying to figure out how much product to use is tough!

Loving the curls!
...that when I went to grab my water bottle out of my car my cup holder came with it and I didn't even notice till I was walking into the building #embarrassing

...that I am still not done with my Canvases for my dorm room yet, but hopefully will be soon!

...that I am starting to get sad that I am going to have to say goodbye to the girls at work.

...that now that it is almost August maybe I am not as ready as I thought to head back to school.
Still really missing these girls though! Cannot wait for this to be everyday life!
...that I am BEYOND excited about my blog makeover that will be coming soon!

What is OK with you today?

I Lost 10 Inches...

Of hair that is! Yesterday I made the decision to FINALLY cut off most of my hair!  While it took me forever to get it to the length it was at, I was more than ready to be done with it!

My hair was long, thick, and super curly.  That combination is not the best one to have if you ask me!  I was very quickly becoming very annoyed by my hair.  Being that it is the middle of summer was not helping at all either.

When I would shower I would have to spend at least 5 minutes combing through my hair.  Yes I comb through my hair in the shower...it's the only way it ever gets brushed.  I would have knots out the wahzoo and hated it.

I also started noticing that I would much rather pull my hair up than deal with it down.  So between all of those reasonings, plus just needing to change it up, I cut my hair!

I started with my hair looking like this:

And ended up with it looking like this:

Don't you just love it?! I know I do! It is so light weight and out of the way.  I think I am a little obsessed with it!

Another reason I chose to cut my hair now is because it was long enough for me to donate my hair.  I love growing it out and then donating it.  About 4 years ago I did this and donated to Locks of Love.

After a little research I chose to change where I was going to donate.  I chose Pantene Beautiful Lengths.  I really liked what they do with the hair donated, and I didn't have to cut as much off.

I strongly encouraged anyone and everyone to do this at least once in their life.  Your hair can always grow back, and you get to help someone out.

PS. Thank you all SO much for all the love yesterday about my weight loss.  I have never been more motivated than I am now to keep going with this:)  If you missed the post go check it out here!

Weight Loss: 10 Pounds Down!

As many of you may know, whether you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, I have lost 10 pounds!!! Yeah I am super excited about this one. I have had a bit of a plateau so I have stayed at this weight for a couple weeks now.  But no worries the scale is heading back down:)

Even better has been my loss of body fat.  I have loss 3% body fat so far! I am pretty happy with that one too:)

Would I like to have lost more than this? Heck yes.  My goal for the summer was 30 lbs.  That was going to be 10 lbs a month.  But lets remember, I had shoulder surgery a month and a half ago.  And I have not been able to do almost any upper body.  This means legs, legs, cardio, and legs are all that has been done.  And when I look at it from that standpoint, I am VERY happy with where I am.

So I am probs not going to be meet my 30 lb goal, but hopefully 20 lb will happen before I head back to school!

I didn't think I was going to do this but.... I have some pictures for y'all from my weight loss.  When I first started I took some pictures, thinking no one would EVER see them.  Let's be serious...I was not looking good and was VERY unhappy with how I looked.

But after recently taking new pictures, and seeing this difference I just knew I needed to share this.  Not only so that I can completely document my weight loss here, but also to help me get over this whole self-conscious thing I have going on.

I started off weighing in at 206 lbs with 43% body fat.  (Writing that out was so much harder than you would think!)

I am now down to 196 lbs with 40% body fat. (I like the way that sounds so much better!)

So are you ready for the pictures yet? Well here goes nothing...

Left: 206 Right: 196
Left: 206 Right: 196
Please note there is not sucking in of any kind in either picture.  Also please note that I am definitely glad I have been spending the summer on the beach.  Tan is definitely my better look.

I didn't really think 10 lbs would make that much of a difference.  My trainer has been saying for weeks that I look so much smaller.  But being that I see myself everyday, I didn't think so.  I thought yeah there are a couple places that have gotten smaller, but when I look at these pictures I definitely seen more results than I thought I would!

Well now that this post is done....I am going to go workout some more so that I can reach my goal :)

Weekend Recap!

Sometimes I wish everyday was a weekend day because then I wouldn't be so stressed.  I have loved that I have been able to relax and do much of nothing this weekend.  Seriously I have done almost nothing.

We spent the weekend in Lakeland and while here there isn't all that much to do.  So instead of laying outside and relaxing and getting my tan on, I relaxed inside and got more white.

Friday night I had to work, and when I got off at 7 I had nothing to do.  I came home and watched some TV and then headed to bed not too late.  I had worked a lot this week so I was pretty exhausted and needed the rest.

Saturday I woke and spent the morning on the couch.  I read through blogs, watched some tv and just vegged out.  Seriously much needed.

I then decided I was going to be a little productive and do some shopping.  My work out pants have become too big on me (heck yes!) and so instead of spending half my workout pulling them up so not everyone is seeing my butt, I thought I would buy some new ones.  I was also in need of/looking for a new purse and bag for school.

I headed out to Marshalls and Target.  First time in FOREVER that both have failed me.  Like majorly failed me.  The only thing I did purchase? Some Essie Nail polish.  First Essie purchase and I must say I was very pleased and will be buying more!
Fifth Ave. Was wanting more orange but chickened out and got this one.  Wish I had gone with the orange!
Saturday night I went to dinner with the parentals.  Again we all know I have like no friends here so it's not like I had any better plans.  That plus I do enjoy a good dinner with them:)
This is what I wore to dinner.  Obsessed with that necklace!
After dinner since we were at one of the bigger shopping areas in Lakeland I thought I would go look around.  I popped into Books-a-Million and bought my first GRE study/practice book.  Thats right people time to get my study on and ace this test!
Nerd much?
I then headed over to Kohls hoping they would have some workout pants I liked on sale.  And it was my lucky day! Not only were they on sale, but I was able to buy a size smaller than I did last time!!! Yay for getting healthy!

Sunday Mamerz and I woke up and went to church.  After that we had some cleaning to do.  Mattie will be moving to Macon, GA for Law School in two weeks and all of the furniture in my room is going with her.

We needed to go through all the drawers and clean them out, as well as some closets.  Man did we do a major overhaul.  Sometimes I love the idea of just throwing everything out.

To wrap up my night as I watched the finale of The Bachelorette, I was able to get some work done on my Chevron Craft Project. So ready for these to be done!

Hope y'all had a great weekend:)

Friday's Letters

Photobucket

Could I be any happier that this Friday has come? No, I don't think so!  I am so happy that I only have one shift at work tonight and then I am done until Tuesday...that is unless I get called in.

Hopefully this weekend is going to be pretty low key.  Maybe a little shopping.  And most definitely a lot of sleeping.  As you all are very well aware of, I don't have many friends here so we all know I will not be going cray cray this weekend...or anytime soon for that matter!

Well onto Friday's Letters!

Dear Kids at Work,  I do not have a kid.  No I do not want a kid anytime soon.  Please stop asking/telling me I need one.  Husband comes first...and he is no where near!

Dear Netflix, Being able to watch you while I workout is the only thing that keeps me going.  Thanks for distracting me.

Dear Pinterest, Thank you for these great laughs, I really needed it!

It's Ok Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays
Oh what do you know...it's another Thursday and that means it is time to link up with Neely and Amber!

Hope everyone is having a great day.  I will be spending my lovely day at the gym.  Like I will be there for 7 hours at least today.  Yay me!

My new philosophy is that maybe the more time I spend there the more weight I will lose...I mean you have to get skinnier just by being in there right?! (P.S. for those who don't know I work at the gym.  So no I am not working out that whole time.  Only 1 hour of it!)

So want to know what's OK with me today?!

It's OK...

...that we are in the month of July but I have been wearing my Candy Corn pajama pants lately

So what if it isn't October yet!
...that I am in the process of thinking about changing the blog.  Like we are talking MAJOR changes.  As in you will not recognize her when she is finished:)

...that I am crying over everything as of lately.  And I am talking EVERYTHING! Like tears in my eyes over how well someone did on a show.  Being a girl sometimes sucks.

...that I have made the official decision that I am going to cut off all my hair.  Now I just have to make the appointment...
See ya later long hair!
...to get really excited that I am finally coming off of my plateau in the weight department after almost 3 weeks of one.  2 pounds more baby!!

...to be constantly thinking about how I want to decorate my room in the fall.  Chevron is a must:)

...that I made baked Chicken Parm for the fam last night and didn't even try a bit.  But it sure did look good!

OK now all of you of have a great day and tell us all what is OK with you!

Liebster Award

OK people...I am super stoked that I got nominated for the Liebster Award!!!  Seriously who would have thought this little old blog of mine would win anything?! Thanks so much Ali for giving me this!

So what is the Liebster Award you may be asking yourself.  Well...
"The Liebster award is given to upcoming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome."- Adrian

So here are the rules for this little award:
- Answer the questions that the tagger set for you PLUS create 11 questions for the people you've tagged to answer.
- Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
- Go to their page and tell them.
*No tag backs!*

Here are the questions Ali has asked me to answer!
1. What is your favorite book or movie?
My current favorite book would be Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.  Seriously go read it!

2. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging so that I could document things that went down at Milligan.  It then gradually grew into a blog to keep track of my life.

3. What is the first blog you read when you hop on your computer each day?
I honestly just go through and read them in the order they are in from when they were posted.  I make time to read each and everyone I want to, which is pretty much all of them!

4. Are your friends and family aware, or supportive of you blogging?
Oh they most definitely are aware since they are featured on the blog all the time! As far as I know they support me:)

5. How did you decide on you blog name?
Oh I don't know...I think it had something to do with the school I got to.. JK...but really!

6. What food could you not live without?
Mac n Cheese.  Best. Food. Ever.

7. What food would you never want to eat again?
Uncooked oats. Yeah I know thats weird.  But seriously grossest thing I have ever put in my mouth!

8. Do you have pets? Tell me more!
Hmm do I claim them or not? My family has pets.  There is our dog Ella, a huge black lab.  Then there are Jacob and Esau the cats.  They are fat.  But don't tell Mamerz that.

9. City girl or country girl?
I wouldn't say either.  Let's try small town? Yeah that sounds better.  I like being able to know people when I go out, but also be able to blend in and not be recognized.

10. Favorite fast food stop?
Well ever since this new diet, none have hit the list.  But prior to? Zaxby's!  I loved their chicken tenders, salads, and fried pickles.  I frequented there all the time.  Shame on me.

11. Biggest obstacle in blogging?
Designs! I seriously stink at trying to design my own blog.  So I know I need to take the plunge and have someone do it for me.  But paying for that? Not the biggest fan.  I am looking into it though.  I think I may have found the designer perfect for me, but now I have to go find some money!

Bloggers 411

Linking up today with Becky from Mrs to Mama to let you all know a little about myself! I love being able to give everyone the chance to feel like they really know who I am! I totally love this idea and I am so looking forward to learning about so many other bloggers as well:)

So here are some of her 17 questions!

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?
I started blogging in October 2010...it seems like just yesterday almost!  My friend actually started her blog first and I thought it would be a great idea.  I wanted to document my life at Milligan.  I also knew it would give my family and friends that did not live near me a chance to see what I was up to!  Originally I was only going to blog about things that happened at Milligan.  But then I started liking to blog about myself and what I was up to.  And from there we now have this little blog here!

2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
Obvs I am currently in college at Milligan College in TN.  I am a double major in Child and Youth Development and Psychology ( I love saying this because I think it makes me sound smart).  I started off with being and Education major (the child and youth development) and then fell in LOVE with Psychology.  After I graduate next year I plan on staying at Milli in order to get my Masters Degree in Counseling!

3. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
Let's be serious.  Going to a small private college is EXPENSIVE! First things first I would pay off the rest of my education. And then maybe a little shopping spree.  But knowing me I would invest/save most of it for the future!

4. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?
Oh goodness.  I get annoyed by so many things so easily.  The first would be when someone interrupts my routine.  Especially in the morning.  Actually all you have to do is talk to me and I will get annoyed in the mornings.  Another would be slow drivers in the left hand lane.  How have you never learned that if your going to drive slow you need to move over?! And my last one would be rude children.  As in their parents never taught them manners and then they are mean/rude to other children.

5. What is your favorite movie?
How to Train Your Dragon.  I am 5 at heart!

6. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
Nerd time.  I love to read.  Almost any me time I get is spent reading.  I am pretty open to anything as well!

7. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
About 2 weeks ago at work, a mom came in to pick up her two kids.  She is a regular and so my boss knows her pretty well.  She found her daughter sitting by the tv, which is exactly where she left her.  When she asked, "Has she been there this whole time?" At the same time my boss and I each said respectively "No" "Pretty Much".  As in I ratted out my boss.  In front of her.  All I could think was "Well there went my summer job!" Fortunately nothing was ever said to me.  But lets just say I avoided her the rest of the day!

8. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
During high school my parents only allowed me to have a job during the summer.  I didn't have to pay for anything, and my parents were willing to give me money as long as I did well and school.  During the summer for 6 years I worked at The Vineyard Camp and Conference Center.  I started out on the bottom and worked my way up to a director! Go me!  At college I work for the school in the education department.   And this summer I am working at a Golds Gym in the child care!  Obvs I love working with kids just a little bit :)

9. Show us a picture from high school or college.
Vineyard Camp 2006
10. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?
5 years from now you will all be calling me Dr. Mosby.  Or at least you will be close to it! I want to have my doctorate, I want to have a good career.  Maybe throw a boy in there? I mean I will only be 26, so I don't feel the need to have my life completely together by then!

Weekend Recap

Another great weekend has come and gone.  It is hard to believe that in just a little over a month from today I will be moving back to Milligan.  Man has this summer come and gone so quickly!

This weekend I was able to spend lots of fun time in the sun and worked VERY hard on my tan.  The family was down till Saturday morning, so we got to spend Friday on the beach with them.  It is always nice to be able to see them, and I hope we will be seeing some or all of them again next summer:)

Friday night we went out to dinner and I decided to try something new.  When it comes to seafood, I have a hard time eating it if I don't know it is fresh.  Fortunately here in Florida, a lot of our fish is!  This night I thought trying some scallops would be fun.  Even though I was worried about the texture, I tried them.  They were wonderful! Definitely a new favorite!!
Yummy Yummy
I spent pretty much the rest of the weekend either curled up the couch, hanging in the pool, or laying out with this good book.
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers
I had read the book long ago, but after hearing Becky was reading it again I thought I would do so as well! It was pretty obvious to me that I had not read the book in a while because I had forgotten so much.  I fell in love with this book again and would recommend it to anyone!

It is the story of Hosea from the Bible told through the times in the 1850's during the California Gold Rush.  If you want to see what true love really is you need to pick this book up!

Nice relaxing weekends are great, especially when I have a full week of work ahead of me!

Sunday Social: Vacation Edition

Sunday Social

This has been a pretty awesome little bit of vacation week for me! So why not talk a little about some vacations?! Linking up with Ashley and Neely!

1. What is the best trip you've ever been on?
This is definitely a toss up for me.
In 2008 Mamerz and I went to Italy!! We spent about 10 days there and had so much fun.  We traveled around Rome, Florence, The Cince Terre, and San Remo.  I was able to see my cousins get married in a little church in Northern Italy, which was pretty amazing. Being that it was only like the 2nd time I traveled out of the country, it was pretty awesome.
Mamerz and I at the Coliseum
The next best trip would have to be in 2010 we took a family vacation to the Cayman Islands.  At that time Dad, Mattie, Benjamin, and Bryce had just gotten certified to deep sea dive, so it was the best place to go.  We have some of the best memories from that trip that none of us will ever be able to forget!

2. What is your best idea for a girls weekend trip?
Hmm I have yet to do this, but from what I hear from Mattie Savannah, GA is pretty awesome. For me and my girls it is just far enough way to feel like we got away but not too ridiculous to drive.  You walk the board walks and see what all they have to see!

3. What is your best idea for a couples trip?
Well let's see, since I am not in a couple I will give you what I think might be pretty fun.  I am a beach girl, so I would have to say time at the beach could be fun.  The girls can hang out and get their tan on, while the guys can fish and do whatever else guys like to do!

4. What is the best vacation on the cheap?
For me? I'm a college student so coming home is always a vacation on the cheap for me!
Oh that's just the view of the backyard:)
5. What is the place you most want to visit?
I love Europe and would love to go back.  I am in the process of convincing the parentals to go to France for my graduation gift! I think Greece is also top on my list of places to visit!

6. What are your vacation necessities?
Depends on where I am going, but you can always find me with these:

1. A good bag to carry.  A smaller cross body bag is always great to have! That way I can keep  important things on me, but not feel like I have to awkwardly carry it!

2. A good book.  Especially if it is a beach vacation! I love to be able to read on the beach and this is the best time to do it!

3. My camera. I am one of those people who love to document every single moment of vacation.  I don't want to forget what happened, so having my camera with me is a must!

It's Ok Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays
Happy Happy Thursday!! I am on vacation for the rest of the week and I am loving it! I think Mamerz and I are going to go on a bike ride and then head down to the beach with everyone else!
But for now here is what's OK with me today!

It's OK...

...that I paint my nails a different color every week
This week they are blue/green
...that I am starting to count down the days till I head back to Milli...yeah I know I should be enjoying summer but I just really want to be around my friends!

...that I have been getting in the habit of putting my hair up in a bun and when I do it is big and sits way on top of my head
It kept hitting the roof of my car!
...that I am having to change up my diet and everything because I am sick and tired of this stupid plateau I have been on with my weight.  It needs to go!

...that I got the best compliment on my cake last night..."it tastes just like Grandma's!"

...that I may have eaten some of that cake seen above

Ok time for breakfast and then that bike ride I mentioned above!

What I'm Loving!

There have been so many things I have been loving lately!!!  And yes most of them came from my Complimentary Influenster Vox Box! New products are the best and I love that I am able to share them!

Ok so those who know me know I have a problem with my nails...I bite them.  Like fingers always in my mouth biting my nails kinda deal.  Yes I know gross.  I have been biting my nails for ever and it is the one habit I wish I could quit.

The only time I don't really bite my nails is when they are painted.  I probs have 50 million nail polishes in all kinds of shades.  I received a new one from the Vox Box.  Sally Hansen's Magnetic Nail Color.

I immediately had to try it and LOVED it! Holy amazeballs! Totes a new fave.  Only problem I found with it was I didn't consider the color to be very summery.  I like to do bright nails in the summer, but don't worry I will be breaking this one out again in the fall!!

I have also been loving this new Shampoo and Conditioner.  My hair has said thank you numerous times to me for using it.  Clear is new, and its focus is on your scalp.  I love that a little goes a long way with it.  Especially considering I have forever long thick curly hair! Totes going to have to come buy some more!

My next thing I am loving:

I first saw these from Raven.  I am pretty sure she posts pretty regular pictures of herself with one of these!

I am usually very overly cautious of energy drinks.  For one I don't think they always work for me, and two I usually don't like the taste.  But the other day I was needing a major pick me up and saw these in the store and decided to try... IN LOVE!!! Best thing ever!!

There are so many more things I am loving...but those will have to wait for another time and another post! Hope everyone has a happy Wednesday:)
